How to encourage creativity in your child
Children are born with infinite potential. The onus of exploring their talents and unraveling their capabilities rests solely on the parents. It's important to nurture the creative talents in children at a very young age. Encouraging creativity in children improves their ability to think out-of-the-box and look at life a little differently. Here's how you can keep your child's creative instincts alive.
1. Allow your child to ask questions
Kids have a great sense of curiosity. Why is the earth round? Why is milk white? Why do babies have no teeth? This endless array of questions may irritate you a whole lot. But remember, kids don't ask them to annoy you. They think and they want to learn new things. That's the reason they ask questions, non-stop. It's best to answer their questions truthfully and also encourage them to question the norm. This encourages differential thinking in kids and sharpens their creative abilities.
2. Be a role model
You are a role model for your child. If your child sees you handling everyday situations in a creative fashion, they may be encouraged to follow suit. Think and act creative and your child is likely to act the same way.
3. Encourage creative thoughts and actions
Kids tend to see things a little differently than us adults. For example, a simple cloud may appear to look like a train or a truck, when viewed through the eyes of a child. Everyday things like a plate and a spoon may appear to be a fairy and her wand in their make-believe world. Instead of giving them a stern look and getting them back to mundane reality, you will do them a whole lot of good if you appreciate their vivid imagination.
4. Don't stifle creativity with too many rules!
Kids need rules and a certain amount of discipline is important to bring order and a sense of security to their lives. However, running your home like a military camp is no way to raise a creative child. Bend your rules from time to time to encourage creative behavior.
5. Focus more on the learning process
Grades are important. But don't focus too much on book knowledge and mark-sheets. Instead concentrate on how much your child had learnt and allow him to think up variations and alternatives to a given concept on his own. Conceptual study focusing on idea generation would go a long way in helping your child grow into a creative, self-assured adult.
6. Keep the fun-factor alive
Don't forget to have some fun while being creative. Kids love anything that spells fun. So, you'll go a long way when some fun is rolled into all your creative activities.

Montessori classrooms are mixed age groups, this grouping creates a highly productive learning environment. Each child works on material that is geared toward there ability and interest. When children of different age levels are able to work on individual materials along side one another, this produces a non-competitive atmosphere. In fact, most children excel beyond the %u201Caverage age expectations.%u201D

The Montessori Method is a special way of teaching children. Developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, the philosophy believes that every child can learn and that each child deserves a learning environment tailored toward their needs. Children have the natural desire to learn and Montessori teaches that children can be both educated and challenged in a loving, supportive environment without depriving them of the joy of discovery.

The Montessori classroom uses concrete materials that are self-correcting and allow the children to learn at their own pace. These materials help the child to see, touch, feel, and freely explore their environments without the teacher's intervention. The Montessori teacher provides individual instruction within set guidelines. The children learn self respect, respect for others, and respect for their environment. Montessori methods and materials promote an inner discipline and self-motivation.
